LITTLE ROCK, AR – The City of Little Rock has 19,000 tons of debris from the Christmas Day Storm left to clean up. Mayor Mark Stodola says 19 public works crews are working 10-hour days, 6 days a week to clean up the mess.

Stodola says crews are able to remove about 100 tons of debris per day. At that rate, given the six day work week, debris from the storm should be fully removed by late August or early September.

Stodola does expect to be notified in the coming days if the city qualifies for aid under a federal disaster declaration. Should that happen, the city will be able to contract out some of the cleanup work.

The city has opened two satellite centers for residents to drop off storm debris, one at Reservoir Park and another at Interstate Park. Those locations will be open Monday through Saturday, 8am-4:30pm. If you can’t drop off the debris, it is recommended you schedule a pickup by either calling 311, or going to littlerock.org and clicking on the 311 logo.

The city also has deposited more than 60 tons of asphalt patching potholes, with 3 crews working 1,200 hours on the task. Stodola says Public Works has spent more than $600,000 in connection to the storm, including 10,000 overtime hours.
