ALEXANDER, AR – The wife of Alexander Mayor Paul Mitchell was sentenced to two years in jail on drug charges related to meth.
Genieve Mitchell was convicted on two counts of possession of methamphetamine, one count of failure to appear, and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. She’ll serve two years in a Community Correction Center followed by a one year suspended sentence.
In February of last year, Bryant police pulled over a woman with fake tags. Mitchell was called by the driver to pick up a child who was also in the car. When she arrived, the officer saw the driver try to give Mitchell something. When she was searched, the officer found meth in her pocket and a glass pipe in her purse.
In June, Mitchell missed her court date for the February charges. When officers served the warrant for missing court, according to the Saline County Prosecutor’s Office, they found Mitchell in asleep in her bed with meth on her night stand and another pipe in her purse.
“Clearly, Mrs. Mitchell has little regard for herself or the court system. Hopefully she will take advantage of the drug treatment provided while she is incarcerated,” said Chris Walton, deputy prosecutor in Saline County.
