Little Rock police need your help tracking down a masked bank robber, but he was not wearing the robber's usual fashion choice of a black ski mask.
The robber put on a monkey mask to rob the Bank of the Ozarks branch in Otter Creek. Wednesday, he remained on the run.
"I seen one lady yesterday and she was hysterical and she was crying and everything and then I knew what happened," said witness Jonathan, who did not want his last name revealed.
Jonathan, who works next door to the bank, did not know the robber was wearing a monkey mask until FOX16 showed him the picture.
"This person obviously don't think. When he wears this disguise, okay, what are you trying to say? How much of a jerk you can be? I mean, c'mon, you're just hurting people," said Jonathan.
"It's obvious that he's quite artistic in his endeavor, however, this is not the Planet of the Apes," said Benton's Bert Mann.
"I would probably hit the floor because I would be wondering what he is on, and if not, I would be running in the opposite direction because that is crazy," said Mabelvale's Megan Moody.
The masked man walked into the bank Tuesday afternoon, pulled out a gun, and told everyone inside to give him their money.
As the suspect left the bank, he ripped off his monkey mask and threw it on the ground.
This is not the first time Little Rock police have dealt with a costumed crook. In 2011, a man in drag robbed a Little Rock drug store. Earlier this year, a man wearing a Barack Obama mask robbed a Florida McDonald's.
As for the monkey masked bandit...
"A thief is a thief no matter if they're dressed as a monkey or themselves, but apparently, he made a monkey out of somebody," says Mann.
No one got hurt. The man got away with cash, but police have not released the amount to the media.
