MT. VERNON, AR - Several wildfires across Arkansas kept firefighters busy Sunday.
According to Chief Nathan Wagoner with the Mt. Vernon Fire Department a fire burned 70 to 80 acres and two barns. They were able to save 3 to 4 houses.
It's believed the fire was caused by someone burning trash even though a burn ban is in effect. The fire is under control at this time with mop up operations ongoing.
One fire fighter was overcome by the heat. Seven fire departments responded to the fire as well as north star EMS and the Arkansas Forestry Commission.
