LITTLE ROCK, AR - Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department officials urge motorists to use extra care and attention when driving through highway work zones during the July 4th holiday.
Several locations on Arkansas' interstates will be reduced to one lane or have closed shoulders where construction zones are located.
"Travelers should stay alert and plan ahead for possible delays," AHTD Director Scott Bennett said. "Motorists traveling on the Interstates during the July 4th holiday should be prepared for additional traffic throughout the day. Keeping distractions to a minimum and following all roadside signage instructions will help travelers arrive safely at their destination."
Bennett urges travelers to visit the
Department's website and click on the "Know the REDZones" icon. The site will highlight areas with significantly reduced capacity during highway construction projects.
"We want travelers to be aware of these REDZones and to consider alternate routes, when available, before they get into the construction area," Bennett said.
