DARDANELLE, Ark. (AP) — Wildlife officers have captured a young black bear that developed a taste for human food while living atop Mount Nebo.

The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission said Friday that the bear was caught at a residence. Wildlife officers tranquilized the animal, took measurements, and relocated him to Newton County.

The 2-year-old male bear hadn't created any conflict with people but wildlife officers wanted him out of the popular Mount Nebo State Park because of the number of visitors and the bear's lack of fear of humans.

The Courier reports the bear had been relocated once before but he roamed his way back to the park.

The park has asked all visitors to stop feeding wildlife.
