MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. (AP) — Authorities in Baxter County say one man was shot in the face as he and his brother fought over a handgun.
Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery says the two brothers were at a Mountain Home residence early Sunday when the shooting occurred. The sheriff says the brothers were drinking heavily and began arguing.
Montgomery says the men began fighting over a .45-caliber handgun and that the weapon discharged during the tussle.
One brother was shot in the face and taken to a hospital in Springfield, Mo. The sheriff says the second brother was taken in for questioning but later released.
Authorities say the case remains under investigation and that the prosecutor's office will decide whether to file any charges.
