HOT SPRINGS, AR – The Mt. Pine School District Superintendent was arrested after an argument with his wife and a Garland County deputy.

Robert Gray was arrested at his home the night of February 25th. He was charged with disorderly conduct, 3rd degree battery, and public intoxication, all misdemeanors.

According to the arrest report, Gray had been drinking and he and his wife were arguing. Gray’s wife says in the report that she was trying to leave their home with her sister and brother-in-law, but Gray would not let her. The brother-in-law tells sheriff’s deputies that Mr. Gray became physical with him when he tried to help Ms. Gray.

When deputies confronted Gray, according to the report, Gray was combative and actually fought with deputies before he was overpowered and handcuffed. At one point Gray even threatened a deputy by telling him he knew Garland County Sheriff Larry Sanders, and he “would be out of a job tomorrow,” according to the arrest report.

Gray was booked in the Garland County Jail on $2,000 bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for March 20th.

Public intox can be only incited on public lands. Private property = Private property. It was a "domestic dispute" between him and his brother-in-law. How many times did you get in an altercation with your spouse's siblings?

I don’t care if he was setting right next to the curb! If he’ s on his own land it shouldn’t be pub.intox! The cop’s could have let the wife and inlaw’s go!

I just love how someone can act a fool yet we blame the police????? say its just a "domestic issue that is really no big deal"??? domestic issues that are "no big deal" are how people get killed. But I guess that's the police fault too???

I youre drunk, inside your house, and the police ask you to come outside, they will bust you for public intox. If you choose to stay inside, you will be charged with resisting arrest. Damned if you do, damned if you dont.

the 'public' intoxication occurred when he stepped outside to combat the police. if he'd only stayed inside and left his wife and her brother depart.....

it sounds like a domestic issue that is really no big deal. So the man had a few drinks and he and his wife got into a spat. he didn't batter her, it was his brother in law that he got into a fight with. still wondering when our homes became the "public". What's with the public intox in your own home? Nobody's perfect

Not surprising. This school needs to be shut down. Their coaches are teachers are no different. Can't have a bunch of alcholhic bullies teaching and mentoring kids and expect the kids to grow up to responsible, productive adults.

This man probably needs to be charged and prosecuted for a variety of crimes but it seems a stretch to charge him for public intoxication when he was in his own home. Hope his wife has the strength to stay gone. Abusive men escalate their behaviour and it doesn't matter if he was drunk or not, the need to dominate someone weaker is ingrained in them. Good luck to her.
