LITTLE ROCK, AR-- The National Organization of Black Law Enforcement members are in Little Rock beginning Saturday.

The event started with local children getting a history lesson on the first black deputy U.S. Marshal, Bass Reeves.

"So when they become high school students and college graduates, they will have a better appreciation for law enforcement," said national president Jiles Ship.

The convention will also feature national speakers. Attorney General Eric Holder will be in town next week, as well as the parents of Treyvon Martin.

"We want to let them know we are here to support you and follow the case all the way through through its entirety," said Ship.

Leaders say the Colorado shooting tragedy Friday is on the minds of each person here. There is even an Aurora officer staffing a booth at the recruiting fair. Even though she could not speak on camera, her colleagues are sending their thoughts of reflection.

"Before every session, we stop and take a moment of silence in support of those individuals who are killed and hurt," said Ship.

By the end of the conference, leaders say they just want to train officers how to better serve their respective communities.

"We want to be the bridge between the police department and the community,” said Ship.

When that great day comes AY the only one I have to answer for is me. The song was great. The message better. Love thy neighbor as you love yourself.

jcarpe; You are probably correct. raerae; I haven't seen many presidents yet that weren't criminals, and the few that may not have been, were totally inept in their jobs. After all, Obama is from the "Land of Lincoln", where political office is either bought, or they are voted in by dead people, and people that vote many times in one election. And Holder is a bum. Anyone see FNC this am? The ACLU and others trying to block PA's new voting laws; and a list of 7 violations found in recent elections; including more votes in a precinct than registered voters, voters voting more than once, non citizens voting, etc. How does my vote supposedly count when things like this go on? Perhaps NOBLE, as a law enforcement group, should concentrate on voter fraud instead of Holder and the Martin's. I know people here that do not have a drivers license; but they still have a state ID; what is the problem with everyone that wants to vote showing ID? It certainly would give us a better shot at our votes counting.

Jesus loves me this I know... Many have sang that song in their youth, myself included. But I don't think everyone is going to see your point until Jesus come back. Racism has always been here, from the time of Moses to today. We could all write a thesis on the subject. And there are other forms; as in people of the same color hating each other over religion. I cringe everytime I hear a Baptist preacher putting down Catholics; my high school girlfriend was a Catholic, as was my first wife. You have Crips and Bloods that fight and kill each other over "territory"; in the white race, you have skinheads, yuppies, bikers, good, bad, and ugly; and a host of different classes, beliefs, etc. In the Muslim world you have different sects that kill each other; we could go on all day about these things. I've had close friends of many races and religions; I don't look at a man and form an opinion of him because of his color; I respect all until they prove they don't deserve it, regardless of race or religion. My main point as far as the story we are posting about was written in my 10:42 PM posting yesterday. And I stand by it. I don't believe I was being racist in my comments; I don't believe I was putting anyone down because of their race; I firmly believe I was putting up a very good argument against black only groups, just as many have done in the past concerning white only practices.

Attorney General Eric Holder is the worst Attorney General EVER!!! He and BHO both believe in the Chicago way. It's there way or no way. They are both just a bunch of criminals along with one of BHO best friends Mayor Rahm Emanuel. All BHO knows is criminals and I say again criminals. Just take a look at all his friends and what he believes in.

Until all can see that the only race that matters is the Human Race there will be racism. As a child I sang a song about the children God loved.

jim40401; Holder is indeed a sorry excuse for the leader of our so called Justice Department. And for those of you out there that are going to call me a racist; I'm talking about the man, not his color. And Martin's parents; capitolizing on their sons death is all they are doing. I do believe Trayvon was a thug; look at his victims head; Mr. Z had no choice but to shoot him, as it appears, he was in danger of losing his own life. And if Trayvon had been a white thug, and Mr. Z had been a black man, I'd feel the same way if the circumstances were the same as they were in this case.

dhdbest; yes, there are white hate groups out there, KKK, Aryan nation, and others. But these are hate groups, just like the Black Panthers, Crips, Bloods, and so on. I'm talking about legitimate groups that are not hate related. As mentioned, there is a Congressional Black Causcus, but not a white one. The AR state legislature has an all black group, but not a white one. Black teachers probably have a group for blacks only. The list goes on and on. But let whites try to form an all white group, a legitimate one, not a hate group, and watch the outcry from the bleeding heart liberals, the Democrats, and the minorities. They would all scream "racism" at any attempt at such a thing. I'll say it again; the black community doesn't want "separate but equal"; but then they disengage themselves from the mainstream of society when they form such organizations. And they "separate" themselves from society in doing so.
