@ Spencer, appreciate the difference of opinion, you made me check my facts and I discovered that although Geese also mate for life, Adult Canada geese begin “paring up” for nesting at three years of age though a few individuals begin this process at age two. Canada geese mate for life and will take a new partner when a mate dies, most of the time (Palmer 1976a). www.canadageesenewjersey.com

People have created this by feeding them, once the killing starts it wont stop this is so insane. You need to educate the people about obeying signs. If you dont want to step in goose poop don't go there.Killing seems to be the answer to everything in this so called Natural State

At Fardy McPooter I am not trying to argue with you. But you have made one mistake. Water foal don't mate for life. There is a bird that does mate for life but that bird is the dove. They mate for life. And for those who are against killing the, just think it is a good holiday present.

This is just cruel and crazy! You have waited until you call the geese a nuisance and now want to kill them? Blood bath!!!!!!! These geese walk right up to humans what kind of hunt is this? As Fardy McPooter stated these birds mate for life kill one and the other is doomed. Take your golf clubs and go somewhere else to hit a little ball. Some of us like seeing these birds in the park beats seeing the drug dealers and perves in there.

What makes this park ranger an expert on public health? Isn't that what the health department is for? Look up the etymology of "hysteria".

I thought these birds had federal wildlife protection, Geese mate for life and killing one of a pair dooms the other to a lonely existence. Geese do make good eating, but this just sounds wrong, almost like a despicable texas canned hunt for weekend shotgun slinging thrill killers. Humans failing to abide by the rules to NOT feed these Birds have caused this problem do we get to hunt them down and penalize them. Besides golf courses are a scar on otherwise useful and productive land. Don't like wild animal poop on the trail or walking paths? stay seated behind your computer screen and enjoy virtual reality landscapes in the comfort of your fat producing chairs. Whats next? fish kills in lakes and rivers to insure we don't swim or boat or water ski where they poop and pee. Humans create far more toxic waste and pollution than 200 geese, NLR alone is an ugly mark in central Arkansas maybe the State should go in and eradicate this blight on the Natural State

the main objective is to get them to go somewhere else. They can fly so as soon as the shots are fired, many will fly away. It's not going to be the slaughter that some people think it will be.

geese truly are good-eats, better than turkey or chicken for flavor. And these are not a migratory flock - they live in BP all year long. That's why they're becoming a nuisance; besides their prolific mess, geese are agressive when they have goslings.
