NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR -- There is now a law aimed at preventing dogs from riding on the back of pick-up trucks without restraints in North Little Rock.
Monday, the North Little Rock city council passed an ordinance requiring drivers to tether their pets to the center of the truck's bed.
The Mayor's youth council first brought the issue to the forefront and made their concerns known.
"Animals mean a lot to us and to see then getting hurt makes us feel like we should do something for them," said member Maha Madani.
Most dog owners FOX16 spoke with say there is no problem with the new ordinance.
"If a dog or whatever is in a seat belt, then it won't move around like luggage," said dog owner Pamela Ivory.
