The city came out the other day and told me my Disabled Person Parking sign had to be 48 inches high from the ground and mine was only 38 so I got a ticket. Now the bed of my truck is 8 ft long and 5 feet wide so as I understand it I need to tie her off four feet from the tail gate and 2.5 feet from the side of the bed. I understand the safest method of transport is side bed and curtain airbags certified for dogs and you can find them on the internet so it must be mainstream. Eventhough I dont think my 140 pound mastiff is going to understand I plan to comply immediately because I sure don't want to break the law. The other day I caught my wife trying to put in an old fashion light bulb and I understand there are those who would go so far as to use non ethanol gas. Not me. I plan to obey all the laws and just stay in my house with the lights off all day.

No pet should ride in the bed of a truck, 27 years ago i was driving across the 430 bridge, a pick up truck passed me, a german shepard was standing on the side of the bed, the truck hit a bump the dog fell over the side and was hanging on by its front paws. I waved at the guy driving but by the time he saw his dog it was to late, the dog fell, it was not a pleasent sight. People who do not care enough to let their pet ride inside, should not have a pet period.

As soon as a dog is harmed due to a restraint, PETA will be all over the owners butt, for doing what the idiots in NLR are making them do.

wpsark maybe because they would have to start in their own departments. I don't like to see pets riding in the back but seems like we just keep getting more and more laws on what should be our own business.

Dear Demopublican, Please take a moment and try a little google search for dog car restraints "seatbelt" not only do they exist here on earth (including AR) but they have for several years. Many people view their pets as a part of the family. Lots of intelligent people realize the danger not to mention the damage a large dog could do not only to itself but others in the car if left unrestrained during a vehicle accident. Imagine being hit from behind by a large pickup and having a 90 pound lab hurled at the back of your head at the same time.

"If a dog or whatever is in a seat belt, then it won't move around like luggage," said dog owner Pamela Ivory. A doggy seatbelt, I have never seen one? Wonder where she saw one? On Pluto?

It is of utmost importance that we pass more laws like this. Fines can be a great revenue stream for the local government! Just remember faithful comrades, catching REAL criminals does not generate revenue!

The new law is fine with me. There's no way I'd make my dogs ride in the back of my pickup restrained or not. They ride inside with me.

I agree with this law. My little girl "Ling Ling" has traveled the world with me. She was the Mascot of the POL Flight, 51st Fighter Wing at Osan AB ROK, She would ride in my car every morning going to work. I found her in 2003. I bought her from a Korean fellow on a bicycle selling dogs from a box, she fit into the palm of my hand. And to this day Ling Ling still sleeps at the foot of my bed.
