NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR – The North Little Rock Police Department announced Thursday that they will now offer a service for people to submit tips anonymously via text messaging.
Tips can be submitted to the short code 274637 (or CRIMES) and must start with the keyword NLR. People are urged to text tips about non-urgent illegal activity, such as drugs, thefts, vandalism, and unsolved cases.
According to police, the tipster's identity is kept secret by third party software, which gives an encrypted alias to all identifying information, and allows police to respond to the text without ever knowing the tipster’s identity.
