Great story, great program, great comments. I love it! Kudo's to LSSLSM's daughter; Kudo's to wpsark for his work there, and prayers to keyman that your son turns his life around before it's too late. I hope your son is another success story. I've always believed the military is where one can learn to be a responsible adult; Heinlein's "Specialization is for insects" says it all.

I was a drill instructor for the program back in the late 90's. Great program, it gives those kids a sense of accomplishment, something many of them lack and that's why they get into trouble. Many of them have parents who could care less what happens to them and it's usually school counselors or juvenile judges who refer them to the program. Have seen some of those kids do a complete 360, join the military and make something of themselve's. I'm sure it's changed a lot since I instructed there, they're probably a lot easier on them now...

I cannot say enough about this program. Definitely gave my daughter a second chance. She is now a Specialist in the Army National Guard. Not EVER in my wildest dreams would I have imagined her going through Army Basic training, but she did it. Please, please - Donate to this worthwhile program. These kids CAN be turned are they are our future.
