Nearly 400lbs of prescription drugs collected

LITTLE ROCK, AR - The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office collected 397 pounds of prescription drugs as part of National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday.

In addition to the prescription drugs, the sheriff’s office collected 7 pounds hypodermic needles.

The purpose of the drug take back is to help prevent prescription drug abuse by children and adults and to also prevent overdose. Since the sheriff’s office has been participating in the take back program they have collected and disposed of half a ton of prescription drugs.

Previous National Rx Drug Take Back Results:

· September 25, 2010 – 129.0 pounds

· April 30, 2011 – 267.8 pounds

· October 29, 2011 – 128.4 pounds
