I am a homeowner in zone 1, the UALR district. I love my neighborhood, neighbors, and everything about the home I have worked on over the last 5 years to rehab. With that said, i think the Tech Park is an amazing opportunity for the city and potentially my neighborhood. Even though i have invested a lot of energy, time, and money into rehabbing my home, I am completely for the Tech Park. The neighborhood i moved into 5 years ago is very depressed. Most of the homes have major physical defects that are too costly for the homeowners to repair. Over the last 3-5 years I have seen University Avenue have a major face lift. I find it very exciting that Mid-Town is being revitalized. I think the Tech Park is just another step in the right direction for the Mid-Town District. I have also spoke with many neighbors that feel the exact same way. I think the opposition has definitely been louder than us that are for it. I am for the Tech Park.

Here's a solution. Lease out a couple of floors at the old Alltel campus. There is plenty space. If the "Technology Park" does take off, I can then see building a permanent campus.

"So far, no companies or businesses have expressed any interest yet in locating to the future Tech Park, but the board hopes if it's built then companies will come." In other words, these people are tossing around big bucks on engineers, studies and all that stuff, trying to find a place to build a multi-million dollar "Technology Park" that no one has shown any interest in being involved with. Thats real intelligent. They should be doing a little bit of recruiting for tenants before tossing away to much money.
