No Run for Attorney General Says State Rep. Broadaway

Paragould Democrat says she will instead seek reelection to District 57 seat.
PARAGOULD, AR - A state representative who had considered a run for higher office is putting those plans on the back burner.

Rep. Mary Broadaway (D-Paragould), who represents District 57, announced today she will instead seek reelection in 2014.

“After giving much thought to the possibility of running for attorney general, I have decided that this is not the time to do it. I am forever indebted to my husband Brad and our three children. They have always stood with me, just as they did while I seriously explored and considered taking on that challenge,” Broadaway said.

She continued, “Thank you to everyone who listened to me and gave me advice during this process. Your words and encouragement are invaluable. Thank you to the people of District 57 for your trust in me. I will seek reelection to continue to represent you in Little Rock. I ask that all of you continue to work with me to serve our state.”

District 57 covers Paragould and part of Greene County in northeast Arkansas. Representative Broadaway is serving her first term in the House.

She said further today: “I am hopeful for the future and for our Arkansas. I am excited to continue working with the great new class of legislators who came to Little Rock with me in January. I am dedicated to working with all actively concerned and engaged in making our home the best it can be.”
