GOULD, AR – Two men charged with attacking Gould Mayor Earnest Nash will not face any jail time.

Prosecutor Kyle Hunter tells Fox 16 that Don Smith had his assault charges dropped and Decarlos Smith took a plea deal that reduced his charges to misdemeanor battery. Both are related to Gould Councilmember Rosieanna Smith.

Nash talked with Fox 16 after the attack, which happened in July of 2011. He said he was pistol-whipped, and the incident was the culmination of months of harassment against him and his family, harassment that started after new members of the Gould City Council took office.
