SEARCY, AR  - While shopping at Walmart Sunday evening, an off-duty White County deputy recognized a man wanted on multiple warrants including felony.

Deputy Matthew Van Winkle confirmed with the White County Communications that 26-year-old Malcolm Hemmert was wanted before approaching and advising him that he was under arrest, according to a release from the Sheriff's Department.

Hemmert tried to flee the area but was caught shortly after, the release says, and after a brief struggle, Deputy Van Winkle removed a knife and sheath from Hemmert.

Searcy police responded and took Hemmert to the White County Detention Center.
