@william69 - Accoring to the info I have received from AGFC, they prefer that you first trap as many of the hogs as possible. Simply hunting them (as one would deer) tends to only cause the herd (I guess that's the name) to move on and continue causing property damage and serve as potential danger to other animals and humans (especially pets and children). While I understand the thrill of the hunt, killing as many as possible (and hopefully not wasting the meat) needs to be the name of the game concerning these hogs.

Holly ,The reporter was just giving the basics. He wasn't writing a book. If a person is interested in killing the hogs they can call game and fish or who ever to find out details. We should be able to yse some common sense.

Anyone have Hog problems on their property ? I and a buddy would love to fill our freezers with hog. I live in Batesville and will travel. The meat would be nice but it's all about the hunt to us. Drop me an e-mail and see if we can't set something up. quiet4us2@yahoo.com

The UA live mascot (named Tusk) is a "Russian Boar". The pig on the UA logo is an Austrian boar. Even Arkansas does not claim it's native pigs. see also Fish and Game: http://www.agfc.com/hunting/Pages/HuntingRegulationsFeralHog.aspx

One day I was riding my horse alone about 20 miles deep in the Buffalo Wilderness near the conjoining of the Buffalo and White rivers and road right into the middle of a herd of wild hogs moving at a right angle to me while grazing down the hill. I was asleep at the switch but the horse knew we were in some danger and didn't like it much. They never looked up but just kept grazing down the hill until they moved right past us. I guess they figured if I was dumb enough to ride right into the middle of them I was no threat. My horse bent his neck around and gave me a disparaging look as the danger passed. But I'm with diplopia. How can we gratuitously dispense with the very symbal of Arkansas who we hold in such high esteem?

I say shoot the devil out of them. Take them to the ADC. Feed hog every day. Tell them you eat hog or do without. Save us some tax dollars.

Dear Reporter, Please proof read your article, and re-write it. I am by NO means smart, but even a child could make a better attempt at writing. Please give your public , plans for hog traps or where plans can be found. Is there certain prosessors that accept the dead hogs ? Do they give the meat to homeless shelters etc. ? Is there a charge or is the hog considered a donation. Are you allowed to use dogs to hunt them ? Is there different types of wild hogs in Arkansas ? Is baiting allowed ? Is hunting open state wide or certain Counties only. And what allows hogs to get 4-5 deep in order to break out the top (of what?) the first place !!!!

I would love to go and be able to fill my freezer with some good, fresh, wild and let's not forget the natural part of the meat. Where do I sign up? I'll go and kill some hogs for them. My freezer is getting low.
