STUTTGART, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas Game and Fish Commission officials say they still don't know what led up to a Monticello man's drowning in southeastern Arkansas more than a week ago.
Commission boating law administrator Stephanie Weatherington told the Stuttgart Daily Leader on Tuesday that Johnny Donaldson died following an accident about 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 27. Arkansas County Sheriff Allen Cheek says Donaldson's body was found three hours after a crew began searching for him.
Weatherington says something caused Donaldson to fall out of the boat in which he was riding, but they don't know that is and may not ever know.
Donaldson was a retired building contractor and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He also was an avid fisherman.
