LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Authorities are investigating the apparent suicide of an inmate at the Pulaski County Detention Center.
According to a report released Monday, a jailer had begun serving meals to inmates when he found 30-year-old Antwon Williams in his cell about 3:50 p.m. Sunday.
The report says one end of a sheet was tied around Williams' neck and the other end was around the bars on the window.
The jailer reported finding no pulse and began efforts to revive Williams before sheriff's deputies and others came to help. Nurses used a defibrillator on Williams before firefighters and an ambulance arrived.
Williams was taken to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences where he was pronounced dead.
