MAYFLOWER, AR - A neighborhood evacuation is now underway after haz-mat crews are called to an area near Mayflower in Faulkner County where a ruptured pipeline is spilling oil near Lake Conway.

There are reports of oil in the water and on streets near Mayflower.

Brandon Morris with the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management says it happened this afternoon in a subdivision in the area around Starlight Road North.

Morris says oil producing giant Exxon owns the pipeline.

There's no word yet on how much oil has spilled or what caused the pipeline to burst.

Faulkner County officials have made an emergency declaration in order to receive state funding for the clean-up.
