Open carry doesn't mean you have to. I'll keep mine concealed even if this passes. Lived in AZ throughout the 70's except for a couple of years in the Army at Belvoir. They had open carry, but I can't remember seeing anyone carrying, except for the old guy that shopped at the only grocery store in Sierra Vista. He looked like an old prospector out of an old black and white movie; long white beard and hair, white cotton shirt, suspenders, cowboy boots, and an ancient leather holster with a six shooter in it. Once a month for supplies. Nope, blood did not run in the streets either. Most states have some form of it; so it must be "working" for the better part of society.

I have no problem with concealed carry, but I believe that open carry will have a potential for serious problems. If I get into a heated argument with someone over service issues at a store, poor quality of a product or anyone of a hundred things that happen every day, its no issue if I'm armed but its concealed. But if I open carry, anyone observing may have increased level of anxiety merely because I have a firearm present. Any additional shooting incidents in the media or a community that has had a lot of shootings may further increase those levels of anxiety. The gun control lobby is trying raise the public's fear of guns every day, why should legal gun owners want to help their cause? If someone thinks that open carry person's argument is potentially dangerous and calls the police, don't you think the media will hype this story as much as possible?
