LITTLE ROCK, AR -- The Family Council Action Committee produced an ad to encourage Arkansans to vote no to "Issue 5," which would legalize pot for medicinal purposes.

Part of the ad says the following: "It's really about making it easier to get illegal drugs. Arkansas doesn't need a state filled with stoned out zombies or the criminal activities that come from legalizing controlled substances."

The group behind the commercial also fought to keep this measure off the November ballot. But the State Supreme Court ruled against that.

"They got a lot of money outside of the state that upheld this issue so it does make me wonder what this is really about and I know for sure it's not about issue," said Jerry Cox, executive director of the Family Council Action Committee.

David Couch with Arkansans for Compassionate Care said the ad is the opponents' attempt to distract voters with accusations that legalization will lead to crime and increased drug activity.

"There's always going to be an example of somebody abusing the system but we need to focus on the people who need this, who want to try this without breaking the law," Couch said.

Lumberman and Lordoflords; Genesis 1:11,12. "...and God saw that it was good." Take heed? You are using my Savior's name; He is the only Lord of Lords! Just sayin'. Lumberman; extensive research has proven this herb beneficial in many illnesses; it has been used for centuries. I'll bet you actually believe that "Reefer Madness" propaganda, don't you? Sad.

I'm a researcher with a masters degree, grew up in Little Rock and am a medical marijuana patient in another state. I'm not a zombie hoping to push my agenda onto your kids and neither are other medical marijuna patients. Medical marijuana is not something that has to be smoked, it can be in any edible form as well as in pill form. Under the proposed law, it will still be illegal to smoke marijuana outside of one's home and of course is illegal to share with others.

Take heed. The Bible says that "in the last days" What was once called good will be called evil and what once was called evil will be called good. Yes, I'm a Bible thumper and proud of it. Christ WILL come back and please take care that you aren't "left behind." Becareful about making fun of God's people, and Don36, your bho hates Israel, God's CHOSEN people, so I'd be real careful what I say about God's children. His chosen one and those of us that were grafted in. Just sayin'!

Lumberman: Last I checked most respiratory medications are inhaled. Granted they are not lit with a match but the medicinal properties are inhaled just as marijuana would be. I hope one day you’re not stricken with a debilitating illness that causes nausea, vomiting, weight loss and extreme pain throughout your body that no medication could touch except for this natural herb. You would change your tune if you walked a day in the shoes of these individuals that suffer from these illnesses.

Medical marijuana... What a load of BS... Does it have medical benefits? Most likely in some cases... Let's see, what other meds have to be smoked? NONE!!! What a joke that will never and should never be given a chance!!

If republicans take white house, it want matter what arkansans decide. Republicans will impose their will on all states as they did during bush administration. We are the 47% romney hates. All he is interested in is how he can be popular with his country club friends by making them richer than they already are. Obama told feds to leave states along. He got a lot of pressure to not say much,so he has avoided the issue. If Obama is re-elected he will be free to help states rights as he will not be burdened with re-election worries.

RobinR; Fantastic research! We all know about the CIA and drugs; wonder how much they are making off the opium coming from the Middle East? Charlie; Mr. Cox probably has seen "Reefer Madness" and is uneducated and ignorant enough to believe it. He would have been a "good" Nazi under Hitler. Talk to your friends, family, and co-workers; let's get out in numbers and vote this thing in!
