anyway, it doesn't matter who done what...the main thing is, justice is served and the dude gets to rot in jail for the rest of his life. And we all know Casey's in a better place than we are and we'll all miss her greatly!!

ok, apparently you guys don't know the family as well as you say you do, and I'm most certainly not passing judgement on anyone because, my dear, it's not my place. She was grounded and should've been at home, instead after her father went to work the night before her mother let her go to her boyfriends house and she was supposed to be home before he got home from work that morning. She called her mother because she was stranded and for fear of the father being mad at her she waited 14 hours to tell him that Casey was stranded on the side of the freakin' road because she didn't want him to be mad at her for letting Casey go. I understand that it still could've happened, but I'd rather my husband be pissed off at me than my daughter be dead. At least then I know I made an effort to help her instead of not saying anything at all!

The sad thing is that people feel compelled to pass judgment on the victim's mother when a man murder a 17-year-old girl. Regardless of what decisions were made that horrible morning, there was a man out there who had the capacity to commit this disgusting deed. If it hadn't been her it would have been someone else and that is the crime that was committed here. Have some compassion for the family who have had to explain to their other children and Casey's friends why something like this could happen in our society. I saw Casey's friends and family devastated by her death, and people like you feel compelled to pass judgment on those close to her. Who should be ashamed?

even had melinda left at the time casey called....the cold harsh reality is that this man still would have had the time and opportunity to take casey and do wat he did. if you read closer you will see the she was 45 mins from her daughter. melinda is a very good mother and i trust her 110% with my own children

Unless they have walked in Melinda's shoes, no one knows all that she did or didn't do. Maybe she made some mistakes, but have some compassion for her. She lost a child. Don't forget who killed Casey and where the blame should go -- to Kenneth Osborn, who a jury of his peers found guilty today.

Why in the world would you not go to help your daughter that was stranded on the side of the road...alone....if her mother loved her only daughter so much...then why did she get up and go and help her! Guess she was too busy to help her baby girl! Your job as a mother is to protect your children...and she obviously failed miserably! This could have all been prevented! And that precious life would still be part of this world!

Yeah Melinda- maybe the reason you can not sleep at night is because you know this is all your fault! You shouldn't have let her go! Now look what you have done!

I totally agree! Why would you wait almost 14 hours to tell your husband that your only daughter was stranded on the side of the road? Just so he won't be mad at you? Shame, shame, shame...

Did anyone every stop to think that maybe this is ALL her mothers fault??? Like... why wait hours and hours to tell your husband... why let her go when she was grounded? If Melinda hadn't let her go... she would still be ALIVE today... if she would have called her husband... Casey would still be here with us!
