While I was a teacher I was also a union member, and the union was a valuable resource. The poverty in arkieland would probably not be as high as it is now if more of the workforce were unionized. Some of my students were sent to school by resentful adults who encouraged them to cause problems at school. Sometimes I feel stupid when I wonder why someone who gets paid more than $100,000 per year as a school superintendent is worth the cost - especially when they have their school employees involved in chaos. Most of our public schools are athletic training facilities where adults drop off kids to be supervised by other adults while the kids are fed, entertained, and indoctrinated with state propaganda. I can think of good ways to cut a school district budget, but the ultimate goal of budget cuts should not be for giving more money and perks to school administrators.

two quotes worth repeating: -"It costs more to educate the poor than the elite.... Sorry, but that is just a fact of life..!!!" unk. -"First they came for the Jews. I was silent. I was not a Jew. Then they came for the Communists. I was silent. I was not a Communist. Then they came for the trade unionists. I was silent. I was not a trade unionist. Then they came for me. There was no one left to speak for me."- Martin Niemoller

when the administrators of the district make about as much $$$ as the vice and pres of the US, failure is imminent.

Dissolve this district and let's be done with it. This has played out like someone prolonging shooting a horse with a broken leg. This can't be fixed. Sad? Yes. Any other choice? No. Move on. Let LRSD and NLRSD absorb this district and then all of Marty Nix's friends can go apply for jobs there.

NativeSon check your stats: "60% of American's make $13,000 a year?" FYI the inflation-adjusted median household income increased 4%, from $49,434 to $51,413, from August to December, according to a study released Thursday by Sentier Research. Now if these people (teachers) invested thousands in an education to become professionals in the teaching profession then they too deserve pay that is commensurate with other professions. BTW, the union did not drive the fiscal distress, the poor management and poor fiscal stewardship of tax dollars by mangers did.
