Something else bothers me about this case: Employees shouldn't be required to take a drug test, because they're a fraud. A news reporter should investigate the details of city of Pine Bluff payments to a drug-testing service. There's bound to be an interesting story there.

Dear backinaction: Sometimes a person is hired to work for the city of Pine Bluff because of a relative who's a city offical. I stand corrected.

Nepotism would not come in to play here because even tho the mayor signs his wifes check, he is not her direct supervisor. Either way, the mayor has his wife and girlfriend on his payroll. He better hope he doesnt ride a Harley.

Dear bat102: It would be interesting to know what the police report says, but you should never automatically believe everything that's in a report done by a Pine Bluff cop, or in a charge filed by a prosecutor in Jefferson County.

Dear Demopublican: It seems like everyone who is hired for a public-sector job in Pine Bluff is hired because of either a special friendship or nepotism.

The Mayor's wife should have been terminated immediately. If this was any other city employee, they would have been terminated. Mayor Redus, what are you trying to cover up for your wife?
