During a four hour board meeting, the PCSSD board of education voted to decertify the Pulaski Association of Classroom Teachers (PACT) is the official bargaining organization for teachers in the district. President Marty Nix says she was disappointed the board took this action after the organization held that role for some 20 years.

Originally Board Member Bill Vasquez wanted the board to vote on dissolving the PCSSD. Just minutes before Tuesday’s standing room only meeting, Vasquez withdrew the request.

Another proposed agenda item to combine Jacksonville High and North Pulaski High schools was also taken off of the agenda, to the approval of numerous parents who showed up.

Later in the meeting, there was a surprise presentation from seniors at Jacksonville High complaining of deplorable conditions at the aging school. It’s so bad, students say, many refuse to use the restrooms due to sanitation concerns at the school.

Two parents also addressed the board expressing concerns about a 1st grade teacher at Arnold Elementary being re-admitted to class after allegations of physical abuse towards students.

Will someone please edit this article so that it makes sense? "During a four hour board meeting, the PCSSD board of education voted to decertify the Pulaski Association of Classroom Teachers (PACT) is the official bargaining organization for teachers in the district." Huh? "Originally Board Member Bill Vasquez wanted the board to vote on dissolving the PCSSD." The school board member wanted to dissolve the entire school district? Really? Is that even allowed? Normally, I'm not a huge critic of this type of thing, but this is just bad. The first half of the article barely makes sense.

I find it interesting that the PCSSD board deems themselves in autonomous control. The contract is binding. This bunch of school board numb skulls should end their behinds up in court, just like anyone else, if they were to breach a contract. What happens if I tell my mortgage company that I've chosen to disregard the agreed contract between us, simply because I no longer want to honor it?
