Im soooo tired of hearing about PCSSD and their lack of, well, everything. It just stinks that my children have to suffer in these places the district likes to refer to as "schools". I agree that 200K is WAY more than one should get paid when the schools are the way they are, shame on you Dr. Guess

Dr. Guess states that the PPC committee was formed by the teachers, this sounds like the last administration. After having talked with countless number of PCSSD teachers, all who say they didn't nominate those who are listed or nor did they vote for the same elected members that were on the previous PPC or as its being painted by PCSSD. Clearly if so many teachers turned in grievances, then why doesn't the PACT attorney get an independent review and count of such ballots and have the PPC dissolved. C'mon PACT lawyers, get on the ball and represent your PACT members with a greater earnestness.

The attorney representing PACT had to ask Dr. Guess four or five times if he was losing any pay next year. Dr. Guess tried to evade the question (I was there), but finally admitted that the amount of his "pay cut" next year is ZERO. A school district in fiscal distress cannot afford Dr. Guess's $215,000 salary, plus added costs, such as Social Security and retirement, which put the total cost to taxpayers at well over one-quarter of a million dollars. He should have led by example, and taken the first cut himself, if there had to be cuts -- but he did not. This isn't really about money, although that is their claim. It is really about power, control, and an illegal attempt at union-busting. The law which authorized the state takeover of the PCSSD only applies to matters of financial concern. Our contracts contain many NON-financial elements, also under attack, and by doing so, Dr. Tom Kimbrell, the State Commissioner of the Department of Education, illegally exceeded his statutory authority. All of these actions will soon be challenged in a pending case in Circuit Court. Judging from what I saw last night at these hearings, The PCSSD will have their usual result in court: another loss, at great expense to taxpayers. Had enough? Desegregation was taken care of with Brown vs Board of Education; so why have the LR school districts shelled out so much dough on lawyers the last 2 decades? Maybe if the school leaders would quit paying lawyers and stop depending on federal money for "desegregation" they would be able to honor the contracts they signed for the teachers. You couldn't pay me to teach in LR; gangbangers, tweekers, crackheads, criminals in training; the teachers contracts should be honored for the type of people they have to try and "educate". And why 3 school districts in one county? So relatives of politicians can have cushy well paying jobs maybe?

After paying all of the lawyers, what will be left for the kids? Dissolve this disgrace of a school district, merge it into LR and NLR and let all of Marty Nix's friends go apply for a job in one of those districts.
