The Benton County Daily Record reports that 15-year-old Dustin Ridenoure drowned Saturday afternoon near Indian Creek in Beaver Lake. Officials say Ridenoure attended Pea Ridge High School, where he played football.

Benton County Deputy Doug Gay says Ridenoure with swimming with friends when he went underwater. Gay says a man heard Ridenoure's friend calling for help and he pulled Ridenoure up from about 20 feet of water.

Authorities say Ridenoure was taken to a hospital in Bentonville where he was pronounced dead.

A funeral is scheduled for Thursday morning in Bentonville. Coach Tony Travis says members of the football team will serve as honorary pallbearers.
