Petrino: We don't care about the BCS

LITTLE ROCK, AR -- Coach Bobby Petrino says he doesn't care about the Bowl Championship Series. He made the comments during a ceremony in Little Rock.

Thursday night, the Boys and Girls Club of Central Arkansas gave Razorback Coach Petrino its Leader of the Year Award.

Club CEO Cindy Doramus says Petrino's guidance to the Cotton Bowl demonstrates his coaching ability. But his strongest quality as a person can be found in his heart.

"He has that vision. He knows how important it is to give kids a chance to find their dreams and build on their dreams and make a better life for themselves," said Doramus.

The Club serves hundreds of kids in Little Rock and North Little Rock. The ceremony was partially a fundraiser to keep much need programs operational. Coach Petrino accepted the honor in true razorback fashion, with pride and humility.

"Anytime you receive an award, its always an honor. But when you receive one whose core values and mission align with your own, its very special," said Petrino.

Coach looked ahead to next month, when the Razorbacks play in the Cotton Bowl.

"We don't care about the BCS. We care about the game that we are playing, the competition that we are playing and the fact that our seniors get to go out one more time to become the greatest team at the University of Arkansas," said Petrino.
