I hope the chief sues Redus, he is clearly wrong and incompetent. We should all get behind Chief Howell to get him back where he belongs and give Redus the boot which he clearly deserves.

I miss Pine Bluff's Golden Era....which, in my opinion, was back in the 50's. Good places to eat, to shop....even walk downtown and window shop without being mugged, raped, robbed or killed. As with what's happened all over America, when incompetence by the law and governing officials breaks down, the criminal element takes over.

I wonder how long it will be before Pine Bluff runs out of money like Altheimer? 5 years? If I owned a business other than a liquor store, fast food or pawn shop, I'd be choosing almost any other city to be in. I was there last fall and the central business area looked like a ghost town. Pine Bluff is dying.

I am very disappointed by this action. Furthermore, I am disgusted at Redus' attitude and smugness about it all. He was very rude and unprofessional in his interview. What he needs to understand is that he is not the "supreme power" of Pine Bluff, as much as he wants to be. The people deserve transparency from their government. Chief Howell is a good man, and I hope and pray God takes good care of him through everything.

Redus is probably the worst thing that has ever happened to Pine Bluff. He needs to be voted out.

I truly like the Chief of Police. Why would Mayor Redus get rid of him. If you have a difference with a person, this is not the way to handle a situation. This is sooooo sad. Chief Howell, don't worry about Mayor Redus, remember God will make your enemy your foot stool. My family like you a lot.. We are a black family that cares.

I pray that justice is served and that Chief is justly rewarded, because it is stated all around that he is a good man to all, even the Blacks of that town! BUT, he must remember that he is to a part of a system that considered "JUST" and very much "UNFAIR!" Now, he will have to face the same systme that has oppressed the people of that doomed and corrupted town! Yes, I'm BLACK and stayed there for some years. We really don't know the ins and outs for the entire firing, but I don't think it's solely on the chief to bring down crime in a city that is full of corrupted individual in government there. The police department there is full of unfair officers that are busy trying to run down women instead of protecting the community, but Redus has upheld those officers that also negliect their duties. I know this for a fact! Code of cops is to protect their own even in their wrongdoings! Most people judge Pine Bluff because of it being predominantly Black, but it the lack of righteous leadership that has that town under a dark cloud!
