Pine Bluff Police Stress the Importance of Neighborhood Watch Programs

Pine Bluff police officers travel on foot to get the word out about Neighborhood Watch programs.
PINE BLUFF, AR -- Pine Bluff police officers are traveling on foot to get the word out about Neighborhood Watch programs.

They're knocking on doors, talking to neighbors and passing out information -- explaining how Neighborhood Watch programs could cut crime.

In another way of showing how they want to clean up the streets, police joined the Street Department in sprucing up grown over properties. Officers hope neighbors will see the importance of joining a Neighborhood Watch program.

"It helps that citizens take back their community and identify things police may not be able to see when they're not patroling," says Regina Vontungeln, spokeswoman for the Pine Bluff Police Department.
