Random alcohol and drug tests could be on the way to Pine Bluff. Alderman Steven Mays is pushing the ordinance that would affect all city employees.

I've been subjected to random drug tests since joining the military in 1982. First in the military, then in the private sector, and now working for a municipality. No biggie...and I do agree that if my taxes are going to pay for their food stamps, etc, they ought to have to pass a regular drug test too!

I work in the medical field, random drug testing has been in place where I work for the last 20 years,,drug testing should be mandatory for anyone with a job ,also for people who receive welfare,,food stamps,,,and who run the dictatorship in PB,,,let the drug testing begin

apparently the Ark. Municipal League does not understand 1700's english. king george and his cronies are not around anymore. the U.S. Government are not the ones doing the testing nor the military. they are wanting to test within there own ranks. anyone who wishes not to be tested i would think could seek employment elsewhere. it's no different than dgur testing with in the work place or a prelude to employment.

I cant believe that SOME people are actually exempt !!!! Tha is way way behind the times. Pine Bluff has fallen behind the times regarding random drug and alcohol testing. Its something that should have been implimented many years ago As for sme of the comments regarding what you do in your private life , shouldnt affect your job? Thats crazy

Trapper- it is in the works, drug testing for welfare recipients will get more consideration once Osama is out of office

haha ... i love all the people against this who think that what you do in private doesnt affect your job .. can always tell the users in the group ... drugs affect you even when your not using at the moment .. especially those that use on a regular basis ... as for alcohol, if you still have enough in your system to pop on a test then you realy shouldnt be handeling any city buisness ... especilly those in public safety ...i.e. .. cops, firefighters

There is going to be a lot of people out of jobs. Your private life should be your own. If you can perform your job what's the big deal ? If you keep your life private, no one invade that !

Alderman Steven Mays mind your business ! Is your job that boring ? Let the people do their jobs. I'm sure someone in your family use drugs and drink alcohol ! Leave their private life alone. I can understand new hires but to random test , that invading privacy.
