LITTLE ROCK, AR - "I'm not happy. I mean, I view Dinky just like I would view one of my kids," said Milton Smith, who has owned pitbull Dinky for five years, until Thursday afternoon. That's when Little Rock Animal Services, with an assist from police, took Dinky away.

"My heart hurts. That's all I can say. I'm sad," said Smith.

Smith isn't the only sad one though. Wanda Henry owns Maltese/Yorkie mix Wiz, who died after an altercation with Dinky.

"He was my son's pet first of all but he became our pet," she said. "He was a family dog."

Henry says Wiz left her yard, ran across the street and ended up in Smith's yard, and that's where the attack happened.

"I was devastated because I was outside to see him with the dog in his mouth," she said. "I was devastated."

The incident doesn't surprise neighbor Patsy Dooley. She claims Dinky killed three of her pets, one dog and two cats.

"I'm concerned because like I have a small child, and the dog is out here all the time." said Dooley. "Unprotected, no leash, no owner, nothing."

For his part though, Smith says Dinky has only had problems with other animals when those animals go into Dinky's yard.

"My dog is not dangerous," he said. "You just saw him. I have little kids here. He is not dangerous."

If you let your dog roam, it may not come home.

Can you folks not read? The article is quite clear that this guy is just another scumbag that thinks he's above the law and let's his dog run loose.

ender; hat's off to you. You indeed made it simple, and you are indeed correct on all points.

Lets make it simple. Was Dinky's yard fenced? Was Dinky restrained by a run line or anything? If yes to either, then the owner is not in violation of any law. If Dinky's owner has not done either, then they are in violation of LR animal control laws. Yes, Wiz's owner is also in violation of the same laws, obviously as he wasn't fenced or restrained. But Dinky should not be allowed back home until his owner is in compliance of the law. His owner states he had him for 5 years, plenty of time to come into compliance of the law.

Little Rock don't care about your dogs your kids or you. It's all about power and money.

I love it when people run their mouths about something they know little or nothing about including the so called media experts.Dogs are very protective of their territory and all dogs will fight those who intrude.I have seen Chihuahuas try to run bigger dogs away.So leave the Pitbull dog alone.

I used the example of child because I thought people might care what could happen to their children. I don't know of anyone who has placed their child under continuous, uninterupted supervision when they are outside. But does anyone believe that it would be safe to walk your dog on a leash past this house? That there would be no chance of this dog attacking you or your dog? That Dinky knows the exact boundaries of the owner's yard? (I'm assuming there's no fence, but I'm sure one these first time posters probably knows whether there's a fence or not.) No one has yet to answer this question, they've danced around the issue by blaming poor parenting, or something. What would an attorney do to Dinky's owner in court IF an attack occurred? Would they accept the idea that there had been no potential warning signs? Would a home owners insurance company not drop you in a heartbeat? Would the family of the potential victim accept an apology, especially after these documented incidents?

Ender929.....I see that no one shares the idea that a small child could easily be the victim of a large dog. IT HAPPENS with "tame" dogs to a family child or a visiting child. AND Little Rock does have a leash law and an ordinance that a pit has to be in a large cage INSIDE a fenced yard. My friend in Cloverdale had one next door inside a fence that killed three different times on her carport as well as the small dog that was a part of it's family. I guess we are the only ones who ....??

Hey Fox 16; need to fix the site. Can't see the votes on the other pages. Lot of passion and comments; would have liked to see who got votes, and who didn't. I see the newbee has voted for his/her self. I know another that does that. I vote a lot, but never for myself. Sakura; shame on you.

I agree with iamerica; if Dinky was not fenced in, then his owner was breaking the law. I saw one post that mentioned LR has a leash law. Partly true; the leash law is county wide, including the rural areas. But we don't know the complete story. Was Dinky inside a fenced in yard? I've had a large dog inside a fenced in yard; fenced well enough to keep him in, but not the neighbors cats out. We are not getting the entire story here; so it's impossible to know if Dinky should go home or not. Viking; you may be right in some part. I once shot a dog for attacking Bubba while he was on a run line. Neighbor came down, asked me if I shot his dog, told him yes, he called the law. I could have aimed for the head, chose to shoot the dog in the leg. Cost the owner $300 at the vet. Law came out, told me I didn't do anything wrong, and was within my rights as far as protecting my dog. Neighbor didn't like that, called the DA. DA sent me a nasty letter threatening prosecution. Wrote them a nasty letter back; my dog was tied up in accordance with Pulaski County leash laws, the other was in violation of said leash laws; prosecute him if you wish, leave me alone. Never heard another word from the DA. Like I said in my first post, this is a lose/lose situation for all three owners. One more thing. Someone mentioned Dinky's owner putting up a fence ( if he doesn't already have one ) and allowing Dinky to go home - I vote for that solution. Sorry Wiz, but you should have been fenced in or tied up also. Cats; if they go into a fenced in yard, and are killed by a dog, cats fault, not the dog or the dogs owner.
