CONWAY, AR – Police say they intercepted a large shipment of marijuana mailed from California to a Conway resident.
Police say the carrier told them of the suspicious package prior to it being delivered. Once the police determined that the package did carry drugs, they decided to let it continue to its original destination at the West Lake Apartment complex.
When it was delivered, narcotics agents went in and arrested Justin Omar Austin. Police say the shipment contained “high grade” pot that was packaged in hair gel. According to police, Austin’s hands and arms were covered in the gel, but he claimed the package wasn’t his and he didn’t know what it contained before he opened it.
Austin is charged with possession with intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police estimate that the 1.7 pounds of marijuana seized would be worth $6,000 on the street.
