Police: 2 suspects ambush officers at apartment complex

Police officers say they were ambushed by two suspects, one with an AK-47 assault rifle, after responding to a shots-fired call at an apartment complex in the 1200 block of Geyer Street.

LITTLE ROCK, AR - Police officers say they were ambushed by two suspects, one with an AK-47 assault rifle, after responding to a shots-fired call at an apartment complex in the 1200 block of Geyer Street.

According to the police report, when the two officers approached the main entrance of the complex, a shirtless man, later identified as 25-year-old Jeremy Ford, began firing at them with a handgun. They took cover as another man, identified as 19-year-old Cameron-Jamel Peterson, opened fire with an AK- 47. He fired more than 30 rounds at the officers according to police.

The SWAT Team was called out to secure the area but the suspects were not found. Witnesses told police that the two suspects had been walking through the complex firing their guns throughout the night.

Later, Ford was found and arrested for attempted murder. Police are still looking for Peterson.

The officers were not injured in the incident.
