LITTLE ROCK, AR –Arkansas State Police report four early morning crashes on the I-530 were set in motion by a drunk driver.
According to reports, a drunk driver rear-ended another vehicle just south of the northbound Dixon Road exit around 5:47 am Saturday. The rear-ended car flipped over and came to a rest upside down. Police say the accident left the driver trapped in the vehicle, and as a result, had to be air lifted from the scene. The driver’s injuries are reported to be non life-threatening.
As a result of the first accident, police say another northbound car approaching the scene careened across the median and slammed into a southbound car head on.
An additional two crashes approaching the scene involved a total of eight vehicles. No detailed information on victim injuries are available at this time, but police say that while some injuries may be serious, none are life threatening.
Police issued multiple citations to the drivers involved, and arrested the original drunk driver on a DWI. The investigation is ongoing.
