CONWAY, AR – In the past month Conway police have visited 21 businesses to see if they would sell alcohol to minors. According to police, 11 of those businesses failed the alcohol compliance checks.

In the latest round, police say they checked 8 businesses, 5 of which failed.

Officers say a server at Ruby Tuesday served the informant alcohol without bothering to check identification. According to officers, servers at Michelangelo’s, US Pizza Co. and Cactus Jacks checked the 19 year old informant’s unaltered identification and still served the teen alcohol. And at the Bear’s Den, despite large “X” marks put on both of the informant’s hands to signify that he was underage, a server still provide alcohol. All of the violators were given tickets for non-compliance, fines range from $200.00 to $500.00.

Police say server’s at Zaza’s, Logan’s, and Buffalo Wild Wings all managed to follow the law.

I'm amazed that since this sting operation was done not long ago there, that the places would be that careless.

I'd say it's time to collect some heavy fines and licenses.

If you can't stop the illegal distribution of the claimed legal products, what makes people believe they can stop the distribution of the claimed illegal products?

Conway is a town full of thugs and trash and they make this a priority. Come on. Go hangout at satterfields on a weekend night.

Can you imagine what would happen if the county ever went wet. Need to pull their permits instead of fines.

That is a pitiful compliance record. Arkansas needs a law like the 'Brown Jug Law' in Alaska that will reward servers for preventing unlawful sales to minors. Check it out on the Responsible Retailing Forum website, there is a short video of how well the program works there. Fines paid by the minors go to the servers who 'bust' them for trying to purchase alcohol! It is a no-brainer solution to the problem, and frees up law enforcement to fight real crime,
