Police: Half of Conway businesses fail alcohol compliance checks

In the past month Conway police have visited 21 businesses to see if they would sell alcohol to minors. According to police, 11 of those businesses failed the alcohol compliance checks.

I'm amazed that since this sting operation was done not long ago there, that the places would be that careless.

If you can't stop the illegal distribution of the claimed legal products, what makes people believe they can stop the distribution of the claimed illegal products?

Conway is a town full of thugs and trash and they make this a priority. Come on. Go hangout at satterfields on a weekend night.

Can you imagine what would happen if the county ever went wet. Need to pull their permits instead of fines.

That is a pitiful compliance record. Arkansas needs a law like the 'Brown Jug Law' in Alaska that will reward servers for preventing unlawful sales to minors. Check it out on the Responsible Retailing Forum website, there is a short video of how well the program works there. Fines paid by the minors go to the servers who 'bust' them for trying to purchase alcohol! It is a no-brainer solution to the problem, and frees up law enforcement to fight real crime,
