Police: Man Fires "Several Rounds" on Little Rock Street

Officers called to address on West 22nd Street Thursday morning around 9:00.
LITTLE ROCK, AR - A man is recovering from a leg wound after being shot in the street.

It happened around 9:00 this morning in a neighborhood north of Asher Avenue.

Officers were called to the 4100 block of West 22nd Street near the intersection with Lewis Street.

That's where initial reports said a man wearing all-black fired several rounds.

Police say the suspect was across the street as Ricky Conway, 29, of Little Rock, was trying to go into a house and fired five shots at him. Conway was hit in the thigh just above the knee. When police found him in the living room of a home they say he was bleeding heavily and had lost a lot of blood. Conway was taken to the hospital and police said he was expected to be okay.

According to the police report, Conway told officers "I'm high and under the influence." He described the man who shot at him as a light-skinned black man who was wearing a blue hat and a blue shirt. Conway said after the man stopped shooting he ran towards 23rd Street.

It's not yet known why the man shot at Conway. Police are still working to identify the suspect.

Ccrime scene investigators found five shell casings at the scene as well as two bullets. One of them was lodged in Conway's car and the other in the front window of a home.
