MALVERN, AR - Malvern police have charged Benjamin Pitts with contributing to the delinquency of a minor as well as other crimes. Police say Pitts impersonated a 15-year-old's father and signed her out of school.

"She could have been killed. She could have been raped," said Arcenthal Stanton, mother of 15-year-old Destiny, a student at Malvern High School. "With what she done and what the school allowed to happen, something tragic could have happened."

Stanton and Malvern police say Pitts claimed to be Destiny's father and picked her up from school. Stanton says Pitts met Destiny on Facebook, and no one at the school asked him to show identification. Police say Pitts has a criminal record, including a charge of simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms.

"In the library it says you have to have ID to check out a library book," explained Stanton, "but you don't have to have ID to check out children? That's not right."

Malvern School District Superintendent Brian Golden says he can't speak publicly about specific actions of students or employees. However, he says it is school policy that anyone on campus has to show identification. Also, Golden released a statement, reading in part, "Please know that Malvern School District has acted swiftly in response to the allegations made and will ensure that its faculty and staff is re-oriented as to the relevant school policies."

As for Destiny, Stanton says she's fine and Pitts dropped her back off at school in time to take the bus home. Now though, Stanton wants the school to make sure this never happens again with Destiny or anyone else's child.

"There are 900 other students out there that needs protection," she said. "We don't know how many times these young people have pulled this same prank on the school administration and they have never caught it."

Stanton says she wants the Malvern School District to make parents aware of what happened to Destiny. Also, she wants signs posted in the school saying that anyone signing out a student must have identification.

When my son was 7, his bus driver threatened to tie several of the kids up with barbed wire. The next day I called the Malvern School Board to inform them and was told he would be removed. He was not removed, just given a different route. You can only imagine my horror when I discovered this was the same man who was convicted of child abuse for picking me up by my hair and throwing me into a wall in the 70's (no, not at Malvern schools)! The entire district needs training and the state should step in! All I can say is thank God we no longer live in that area!!

Very convenient they didn't list the age of this "Benjamin Pitts". Did he even appear to be of age to have a 15 year old daughter? Either way he and the 15 year old needs punished. There are way too many of age women in Arkansas that you have to turn to pedophile.

-This is one of the many reasons I chose to do Arkansas virtual academy with my children and not send them there! This and this http://www.fox16.com/news/story/Malvern-bus-driver-charged-with-rape-sexual/jGp41v9KQEWc8smUqCf59w.cspx#.UIq31yH2_Po.facebook -- Brian golden needs to step down! I know I picked a child there a few years ago because the child was sick and her mom could not get her. She was in 5th. The never checked a piece of ID and it was quite obvious I was not her parent. Sad Sad state.

Whomever did not check the ID and allowed the underage minor to go with this man, needs to be charged as well, for child endangerment.

Obviously Malvern school administration doesn't have a clue. They should all be fired.

Yankee, I agree. It does appear she was more than willing to go with this POS. Whoever it was at the school that did not verify that this man was her father/guardian should be fired and banned from ever working in a school again. As far as this POS goes, I think anyone on here that has ever read my posts knows how I feel about perverts like this. Jail is not punishment enough for him. Multiple people to blame here for this.

When my daughter was in kindergarten at Malvern she was signed out by a church that i did not approve to pick her up after calling the police , her missing for over a hour and the school not know who picked her up for sure and her 5 min from a morgan alert being activated she was found. When we went to the super. the next day we was told oh we are sorry we dropped a bomb. We was refused to attend the next school board meeting to address this and if we did we would be removed. I can tell you no IDs are checked. No files are looked at to see who is on there list and I am sure if you really looked and asked it has happened alot at this school

Sounds like she was in on it too. He needs to go to jail; she needs the "board" of education. And her technology taken away from her; no more Facebook, Twit, or texting.
