LITTLE ROCK, AR – One person was shot in the leg during the attempted robbery of the Arvest Bank on Chenal Monday afternoon. During the getaway, a third person shot at the robbery suspect, according to the Little Rock Police.

At least one person tried to rob the bank around 1:30pm. When the suspect left the bank, they shot someone in the leg.

“It was horrifying,” said a man who witnessed the shooting. “When I came over by him [the victim] I didn’t know if the guy was dead or still alive.” The witness, who asked not to be identified, said his family saw the whole thing.

“I was like, ‘wow, what’s going on here? Get down mom.’”

The witness’ step-dad rendered aid to the shooting victim, using a white scarf to staunch the bleeding. Police say they did not immediately know his condition.

After the attempted robbery, the suspect ran to a car parked at a gas station across the street. Police say a bystander at the gas station shot at the robbery suspect, but it is unknown in anyone was hit.

“Any time you have a violent crime, we do recommend that you contact police or be a good witness instead of engaging in the violence itself,” said LRPD spokesperson Sgt. Cassandra Davis.

Police say they found he suspect’s vehicle at a nearby apartment complex. The suspect(s), however, remain at large.
