Hot Springs police have arrested two people in the death of Kenneth Berthia. His
body was found in a truck in the old Coy's parking lot.
Rocky Noles, 29, and Sara Whitfield, 34, were arrested for the murder of Berthia.
Police found Berthia's body in the back of a pick up truck February 4th in broad daylight. Police say robbery is the motive.
Wednesday, detectives spent the day at Rocky Noles and Sara Whitfields apartment looking for clues in the murder of Kenneth Berthia.
Sara's mom Donna Laperriere says her daughter is innocent and suffers from a mental disorder and she doesn’t think her daughter is capable of murder.
Cpl. McCrary Means says murder may not have been the couple’s intent, but is seems robbery was.
Someone slashed Berthea's throat with a knife. Laperriere says this feels like a nightmare she can't wake up from.
Around 9:30 Tuesday night, Hot Springs Police arrested Noles and Whitfield at their apartment.
"It's very painful, it's unbelievable, I don't know what to say," Laperriere said "We just don't know anything, Sarah wouldn't do this."
According to the arrest report Rocky Noles admitted to hitting Kenneth Berthia several times in the head with a bat before slashing his throat.
Both are charged with 1st degree murder. Whitfield is also charged with hindering apprehension. Both are being held in the Garland County Detention Center.
