POPE COUNTY, AR – Police have captured a suspect after a manhunt that began Saturday afternoon.

According to reports, around 1:45pm on January 28, Arkansas State Police were conducting a routine traffic stop on the !-40 West when a suspect, later identified as Wesley David Elmore, jumped from the vehicle and ran into a wooded area, which started a manhunt involving several police agencies.

Police say Elmore, who has an arrest warrant for first degree battery out of Fort Smith, was found Sunday morning around 10:30am, around the 600 block of Crow Mountain Road, just east of Russellville. Elmore was arrested without incident and is currently being held in the Pope County Jail.

Police say Elmore may now face additional charges.
