OZARK, Ark. (AP) — Authorities say a trucker from California is jailed after allegedly being caught with 13 pounds of uncut methamphetamine on Interstate 40.

The Southwest Times Record reports that 39-year-old Joel Castillo of Salinas, Calif., was stopped Monday night when his rig was seen swerving near Ozark.

Franklin County Sheriff Anthony Boen says Castillo gave officers permission to search his truck, and officers found the alleged meth in a locked box in the truck's cab.

Boen says no weapons were found and Castillo had very little cash. The investigation has been turned over to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency.

The sheriff says Castillo was taking the rig to Maryland.

It wasn't clear whether Castillo has an attorney.
