LITTLE ROCK, AR -- Can it get better than this? Cold water to cool you off on a hot day!

"This is the best place to be in the heat," said Markiim Crowder.

Crowder said it's the best place to be -- instead of cooped up in the house.

"Most people just stay in the house with the fan but that's not much help," said Crowder.

He and his cousins were at the Jim Dailey pool when the doors opened at noon. Several others joined them.

"Last time we came it was like hundreds of them here," said Isaiah Aikins.

That's usually what happens when it gets hotter, which means pool owners -- whether public or private -- have to add more chlorine.

"It will keep them from getting sick. It will keep them from getting swimmer's ear a lot," Melissa Baker of Lindsay's Pools & Spas said.

Baker said chlorine levels need to be balanced to fight off bacteria. Besides swimmer's ear, the chlorine protects you from skin rashes and irritation.

"People think, I just put this pool in my backyard and I don't do anything. No it's a chore, it's a lot of work. You have to be out there brushing it, vacuuming it," Baker said.

While you're in the water, you forget how hot it is really until you walk on the concrete.

"It can be hot on the ground but when you get in the pool it's cool," Kadayshia Bailey said.

Go figure.
