LITTLE ROCK, AR – The number of homes and businesses without power continues to drop as thousands of crews from 15 different states join restoration efforts. The latest outage numbers from Entergy show less than 70,000 customers without service, down from a high of 190,000. First Electric is reporting their outages down from a high of around 30,000 to just over 3,000.

The thousands of crews brought in from out of state to help are staging throughout central Arkansas. The Arkansas State Fairgrounds is hosting hundreds of crews. They fed breakfast to about 800 this morning and packed them a sack lunch to take with them as they left for power restoration assignments. Most won’t be back until after dark for dinner and some rest before going back out again.

Crews we talked to were from as far away as North Carolina. There are many others from Tennessee, Kentucky and about a dozen other states.

Entergy, Saturday morning, open a customer information center to answer questions and provide information for people still waiting for their service to be restored. It is located at 900 Louisiana Street in downtown Little Rock. Officials expect the center to remain open through Monday or Tuesday.

charlie is right; they'll pass the cost on to their customers. I think we've all been there at one time or another concerning the loss of power. Severe weather in the forms of thunderstorms and tornados, ice storms, sleet, and snow. I too went a week without power in 2000. Was fortunate this time, the juice stayed on but the cable went out. No TV, 'net, or home phone. Think Comcast will give us a break on the down time? LOL

arky-Sorry you didn't get the sarcasm in my post. I can sympathize with your anger as I lost power during the snow/ice storm on Christmas day 2000. We were without power for a week, so I can understand your frustration. Don't know how long you've been an Entergy customer, but they are always trying to find new ways to raise revenue for emergencies such as this. Have you noticed on your bill that you pay an "ice storm recovery fee"? We've been paying this fee for the past 5-6 years, yet the utility claims they only have $15M to cover the cost for this storm clean up. Where has the money gone? Country club memberships, hats, golf tees, Razorback tickets, everywhere except improving the service to their customers. Yes, I feel bad that people have to suffer at the expense of the greed of this company, but extra fees are not the answer. Stay warm!

Charlie, you must be a fortunate one that has, or never lost power. You are a selfish jerk, there are many people, including myself, that have been without power since Christmas day. Seems that the only ones that are complaining are the ones that have had power and have no idea what the rest of us are going through. I applaud Entergy and all the guys and gals they have brought in. And by the way, as of this post I still have no power, and at 20 bucks a day for gas for my generator< I would gladly go back to my Entergy bills. Add it up, you Jerk!!

I wonder what new fee Entergy will add to our bill for this fiasco?
