LITTLE ROCK, AR - The National Transportation Safety Board has released a preliminary report on the
crash of an experimental plane in Clinton last week.
The report confirms the plane's canopy did come off shortly after takeoff.
It also reveals that witnesses heard a loud pop before the plane tried and failed to return to the airport. However, it doesn't say what caused the canopy to come off.
The pilot, Steven James, suffered broken bones.
The passenger was only slightly injured.
